Announcements
Student Ministries:
- The Junior High and High School groups meet on Tuesday nights for mid-week service.
- All Nighter! Friday, October 24th from 10 pm to 6 am at City Beach in Fremont. Cost is $30 per person. Last day to sign up is October 14th.
Also, chaperones are needed throughout the night for 2-3 hour shifts. Contact Devin if you wish to help by either chaperoning or cooking
food at dnelson@evergreenvalleychurch.org or 605-8190.

Up and Coming
Current Sermon Series - "I Like Church"
- We are doing a fall series on the church blueprint from the book of Acts called "I Like Church". Listen now to the current sermon
based on Acts 2:32-35 that address the church as a place to belong.
Listen
to Experiencing the Presence of God or visit the resources page to get the sermon notes or hear any other sermons.
- We
want everyone in our church to read through the book of Acts and join up with a group of people to discuss
what you are learning each week. The materials we provide to you each week will be your guide. If you are
already in a group, great! If not, then we request that you start meeting with someone during this series. You do
not need a bible study leader, just other people to meet with and discuss the questions and text you read each
week. So ask some friends and start gathering together whenever it is convenient for you each week beginning
the week of September 21.
Men's Retreat: - Registration Form (pdf)
- The Men's Retreat will be held at Mission Springs Christian Conference Center on November 7-9, 2008.
Cost is $150 with a $50 deposit due by October 19. As Iron Sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another.
Just wanna have fun with the Girls:
- The Women's Ministry is starting a monthly night out with the girls. Our first fun night and fellowship
is Friday, October 10th at 7 pm at the church. Mark your calendars and come join us for some fun with the
girls. There will be a freewill offering accepted to help cover the costs and future events.
College Textbooks:
- Dr. Minas is looking for any used textbooks. These textbooks will be used to stock the library in the university in Addis, Ethiopia.
Drop the textbooks off at the church by October 1st.
EVC will host a simulcast of LeadNow 2008:
 On Saturday, November 15th from 8:30 to 4:00 EVC will host the simulcast of LeadNow 2008. This is an exciting training event developed
by www.rightnow.org that will equip leaders to lead the 20 to 30 something age group. Check out
our information page.
Kids Club:
- This week we started three Kids Clubs in public schools and we need more workers. If you can help on Wednesday or
Thursday afternoons contact the church office for more details.
Communion Prep:
- We are in immediate need for workers to set up communion trays before first service and/or to clean up after second service.
Contact the church if you can help.
Trunk or Treat:
- Come join us on Friday, October 31st, from 6-9 pm for our annual community Halloween alternative event. It will be a free
fun night filled with games, candy, prizes, snacks and more. We need volunteers to help out that night as well as bags of individually wrapped candy
donated. If you would like to include your car in this event, please contact Pastor Galley at GMolina@EvergreenValleyChurch.org.

Golf Tournament:
- The annual golf tournament was a huge success! Fun was had by all. We raised over $11,000 to help the children: locally and
globally. Look for pictures and stories posted here.

Attention Young Marrieds:
- September 14 EVC started a small group for Young Married couples. We meet at 10:45 am in the church conference room. The group is being led by Don and Annie Smith. Contact us at evc_youngmarrieds@yahoo.com

Experiencing God:
- Started Sunday, September 14th at 10:45. Most Bible studies help people, this one changes them forever. Experiencing
God (subtitle: Knowing and Doing the Will of God) by Henry Blackaby is one study that moves you into the direct awareness of
God's presence and movement in your life. In this study, you will explore what Henry calls the seven realities of experiencing God.
This biblical study does require homework and it will allow God to speak into your life in ways you may never have experienced
before. Two identical class time options are being offered on campus at EVC. First, on Sunday morning during the 10:45 am
service in the Yurt beginning on September 14 and the second it will be offered on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am beginning on
September 16. You will need a workbook for this course at a cost of $15 available from the church.
College Small Group:
- Calling all college age students! We meet Sunday nights at EVC from 6 - 7:45 pm. Food/Fellowship/Faith. Please contact Devin at

Casa de Oracion:
- Casa de Oracion
is now at EVC. They are holding Christian services in Spanish on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm and Sunday afternoons 4-6 pm. Welcome!!
Kids Club Summer Splash
- This summer bible camp was a huge success! Look for pictures and stories posted here.
Thursday Night Women's Bible Study
- This study is offered to Women of all ages. We are going over the Sermon Summary Notes found in our bulletin
every week. Dorothy Stewart and CeCe Lopez are leading the class. This is a very interactive class.
We learn how to incorporate the word into our lives. If you have any questions please call the church office or just show up on
Thursday night: 7-8:30.
All-Church Directory:
- We are putting together a directory of the adults in the church. We need help with taking pictures and updating information.

Join a Small Group Today
- We strongly believe that real spiritual growth happens best when small groups of people gather together in homes to read and
discuss God's word, pray together, and regularly encourage one another. It's time for you to join a small group. Pick up a list of small
groups at our Welcome Center. For help getting started contact
Pastor Dennis or Jo Ann Taku, our small group coordinator, at the church office.
- We are looking to start new groups this fall. We are looking for leaders that can come alongside of and help start new groups. Contact Pastor Dennis
to discuss the possibilities.
Threads of Love:
- Santa Teresa Hospital is interested in receiving burial gowns for babies that don't live. Renee Brogdon is starting a chapter of Threads of Love to
provide these gowns. She needs your help! If you can sew or help cut fabric your help is greatly needed. Call the church office to get in touch
with Renee for more information.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- We are looking for people with a heart to visit and talk with Senior citizens at Regency and Vintage/Sunrise throughout the week. Contact
Pastor Dennis for more information at 408-274-7422.
- The Hospitality team is in need of help on Sunday mornings. Food preparation, serving and clean up are the areas that can use your help.

- NBC reported on Philip Smith and Hope unlimited in Brazil - a mission that EVC supports. NBC focused on the difference they are making

Small Group Benefits
- Joining a small group will give you the support you need as you grow in the truth and love of God. Develop eternal friends as you socialize,
study God's word and pray together. If you haven't joined a small group it is time! Contact

Lending Library
- Come and check out the lending Library next to the Elementary Children's room. Borrow a book, bring it back, bring some Christian
books to add to the collection.
